Hey,
I know you care about saving our forests, so I want to make sure
you saw this.
Costco is wiping out the world’s largest forest to make
toilet paper. If we don’t raise enough money today, we
might miss our biggest chance to stop them before it’s too
late.

Will
you chip in to confront Costco investors in just a few days
time?
Thanks for all that you do,
Amelia and the team at SumOfUs
Here's my original email:
Costco is bulldozing the world’s largest remaining
forests.
Why? To make luxury toilet paper.
Loggers are sawing the forest down at a terrifying rate. The
boreal forest covers over half of Canada and it’s home to hundreds
of indigenous communities and billions of animals. But
instead of bird song and the buzzing of insects, all you can hear is
the howling of chainsaws.
Costco bosses are desperate to keep this under wraps.
They need next week's annual shareholder meeting to go down
without hiccups.
That’s where you come in. With your donation, we can get our team
of Boreal activists there, at the meeting. We’ll put
ourselves in front of every TV camera -- and every shareholder
entering the room. Costco won’t stand a chance at hiding its
forest-destroying ways. But to get the team there is
expensive and I’m worried that without your help, this huge
moment could pass us by.

Please,
will you chip in $1 to save this pristine forest from becoming
toilet paper?
Toilet paper is the number one biggest seller for Costco. But in
its hunger for profit, Costco uses wood from mature forests and
tries to claim it’s “sustainable”.
If we don’t save the boreal forest from Costco's greed,
we don’t have a fighting chance against climate
change. The carbon released when these forests are
destroyed is devastating -- producing toilet paper from virgin wood
is worse than driving gas-guzzling SUVs.
So far, Costco is refusing to use mostly recycled materials. You
and I know that’s not only ludicrously greedy, but reckless for the
planet we all call home. You can bet many of Costco’s
shareholders won’t be feeling proud of this reputation.
They don’t want the company to be infamous for its eco-destruction
-- they just need a push from you to take a stand.
You can make that happen. Your donation will get me and
other dedicated Boreal activists to the meeting.
Shareholders and execs won’t be able to hide from the truth of their
grotty business. They’ll know their reputation -- and profits -- are
under threat.
Can you send an urgent donation so we can crash Costco’s
AGM?

Yes,
I can donate $1 to save the forests that are fighting climate
change.
We know when we come together we can make corporations do the
right thing. When 400,000 members like you took action, we forced
Starbucks to start using 100% recycled paper cups.
And members like you forced McDonald's to commit to a
deforestation-free palm oil policy. When we expose the ugly
side of corporate giants -- like Costco -- they take action to
protect their brand. And in doing so we score a massive victory for
our planet, and the animals we share it with.
