The brave Ukrainians who are
keeping shelter doors open to take in strays and pets
displaced by the conflict are an inspiration to all of
us, caring for animals whose families have had to make
the heartbreaking decision to leave them behind as they
seek refuge in neighboring countries. But the
conflict in Ukraine means that deliveries of food and
vital medicines can't always make it to the animals in
need. Meanwhile, deadly airstrikes are
terrorizing shelter animals and strays alike --there are reports that pets
are dying from heart attacks and
bullets.
