pandemic demonstrate the importance of risk
mitigation and disaster preparation, and climate
change is increasing the number and severity of
natural disasters that occur each year, warns
Mami Mizutori, United Nations Special
Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction. Many
countries are facing multiple disasters
simultaneously -- a trend that will likely
continue, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres
