Not much is
known about the mysterious mammal called the pangolin — except
that it looks like a scaly anteater, and is so susceptible to
stress that it often dies unexpectedly in captivity. It's also
quickly becoming endangered despite
international treaties designed to protect these intriguing
animals. Pangolins are heavily trafficked and
killed for their valuable skins, scales, and
meat. In particular, there is massive
ongoing demand for pangolin scales, fueling a huge illegal
trade in many countries. But these rare and fantastic
creatures shouldn't be butchered just so that humans can slice
off their scales, peel away their skin, and eat their meat.
Not only is
there still so much we could still learn about this
fast-disappearing species, but it's also our moral duty to
defend their lives. Some of the worst pangolin trafficking in
the world is in China and Vietnam. We must urge these
lawmakers to enact harsher penalties on illegal pangolin
traders and pursue more robust species protection
efforts. Sign the petition today to demand that
the Chinese and Vietnamese governments take action to save
pangolins before this fantastic beast is gone for
good.
Thank you for all that you do,

P.S. Because
the pangolin and its habitat are disappearing so rapidly,
experts are unsure how many pangolins are left in the wild. Please take a moment to sign this petition so we
can save and study the pangolin before it's too
late.
