The “Clean –up Georgia” campaign will start on September, 19
On September 19-20-21 takes place annual international Clean – up
campaign –“ Clean Up the World!”
Clean Up the World! - Campaign was initiated by the United Nations
Environment Program (UNEP) in 1992. The campaign brings together
governments, businesses, community groups, schools, and individuals for
carrying out large-scale clean up actions and implementation of relevant
programmes, which takes place traditionally in September in 134 countries
annually (Georgia joined the “ Clean Up the World” campaign in 2010 and
became 121st country placed on global environmental map).
The Clean Up Campaign will be carried out this year under the slogan:
“Our Place… Our Planet… Our Responsibility …”
Large-scale Clean Up campaign – “Clean Up the World, Clean Up Georgia!” will
take place the Fifth time in Georgia on 19,20,21 September 2014 in
parallel to “ Clean-up the World “ campaign of 2014, The clean up actions
will be held in almost all administrative districts and municipalities of
the country where the regional coordinators will organize a clean-up
actions.
In Tbilisi, as well as in regions the Clean-up actions will begin on
September 19 and during three days pre-selected areas will be cleaned up.
“Clean Up the World-Clean Up Georgia” campaign is organized within the frame
of the project “Clean Up Georgia –Raising of Public Awareness and
Involvement in Solid Waste Management Improvement” (Phase II) and
implemented by NGO consortium Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the
Earth Georgia, EcoVision – The Union for Sustainable Development and
Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis. with support of the Ministry
of Environment Protection of Georgia and funded by Sida (Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency).
