Paraquat
is currently banned in the United Kingdom, where it is
manufactured, and in Switzerland and China, where the
product's parent companies are based. It is also banned
in the entire European Union.
Internal documents show that
leaders at Syngenta -- the company that produces
paraquat -- have been aware of a link between the
chemical spray and Parkinson's disease for many years.
In fact, they've even tried to manufacture their
own in-house "research" to confuse the situation and
cover up the toxin's grievous
effects.
To
make matters worse, the company tried to influence which
individuals serve on the EPA panels that regulate
pesticides. Clearly, executives at Syngenta know
this toxic chemical is dangerous -- and it is time the
EPA starts recognizing it.
P.S. The
EPA is charged with protecting the environment as well
as public health from dangerous chemicals. It should
immediately ban the use of dangerous
paraquat. Sign the
petition.
