Demonstration of Modern Methods of Tomato Growing in the Villages of
Akhalubani and Khovle of Gori and Kaspi Municipalities




On 18 September 2017 at 11:00 in the frame of the European Neighborhood
Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) and EC funded project
“Supporting Agricultural Co-operation in Georgia” Biological Farming
Association “Elkana” is organizing the demonstration of organic and
intensive tomato growing demo plots established in the frame of the project
in the villages of Akhalubani (Gori municipality) and Khovle (Kaspi
municipality).



The aim of the demo day is to introduce interested farmers and other
stakeholders with two methods of tomato growing:



*         In the village Akhalubani, Gori Municipality the demo plot
beneficiary Leri Tsitsagi will present Organic Tomato Production using drip
irrigation and mulching (0.2 hectares).



*         In the village Khovle, Kaspi Municipality the demo plot
beneficiary Kakhi Bitchikashvilii will present Intensive Tomato Growing
using various modern methods (0.5 hectares), including tomato grafting
technics that is innovative method for Georgia.



The guests of the demo day will have the opportunity to compare strengths
and weaknesses of the organic and conventional production methods and taste
tomatoes produced with different production systems.



Attendance on the event is free. We will be glad to host you on the demo
day!



Event is supported by the European Union through ENPARD programme.
Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 102 million (2013-2019),
the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. More
