the
EPA v. WV Supreme Court decision will cost millions of lives
and undermine the health, safety, and future of EVERY single
one of us — especially our KIDS.
By
blocking the EPA from protecting us from carbon pollution, the
court has launched an appalling and immoral attack on our
families. But it’s not a surprise. This is the result of a
decades-long campaign by polluters to protect their profits
and evade accountability.
This
decision throws down the gauntlet to elected officials at
every level in this country.
If
our elected leaders don’t now use their power to stop
pollution, they are endorsing a devastating future for our
families and our children.
As
worried and angry people, the most important thing to do today
is NOT BE SILENT. Click here to send a letter to your city,
state, and federal elected leaders right now demanding they
respond to the Supreme Court’s attack and protect our families
from carbon pollution.
This
is a serious blow to our government’s ability to protect
families from carbon pollution.
It
makes action by elected leaders more urgent than ever.
But
the truth is that polluters had already succeeded at weakening
the Clean Air Act by politicizing and polarizing what were
once accepted as bipartisan common-sense:
We
should protect our health and safety from pollution!
That’s
why it is so important for more of us to speak out in this
moment. We are the majority and we must re-establish that
protecting kids from pollution is a no-brainer, which no
elected leader should dare oppose.
Tell
your officials that if they aren’t standing up to protect our
future, they are standing against our families. Send a letter
right now.
The
Clean Air Act is a backstop against congressional gridlock —
but it was never supposed to be the only way to protect us
from carbon pollution. Transitioning in earnest to 100% clean
energy was always going to require a broader set of proactive
actions from elected leaders.
There
is a lot EVERY leader can do, and some of it is already
happening:
- 7
States have committed to 100% clean energy
- 230
cities and towns and 7 Counties have committed to 100% clean
energy – and 51 of them have already gotten there.
- More
than two dozen states, counties, and cities are suing the
biggest fossil fuel companies for lying about the damage
they knew they were causing.
- California
is even investigating fossil fuel companies’ role in lying
to us about plastic pollution.
The
more of this that happens, at every level, the more difficult
it will be for elected leaders to serve polluters, not our
families.
Now
that all of us parents are furious at the actions of the
Court, it’s essential that we use that energy to demand the
strongest possible action from our elected leaders. Send a
letter now.
Thanks
for taking action to protect our kids.
