Only 1 day left to stop the palm oil that kills orangutans and destroys forests. The European Commission uses our tax money to subsidise these fake ‘green fuels’. Can you tweet and contribute to buy ads to stop them? |
Hi,
There’s only 1 day left until a huge decision on palm oil is taken. This Friday, the EU Commission can stop the subsidies that cause the expansion of palm plantations, saving orangutans and our forests. Or… they can maintain the status quo and create more deforestation and cause more wildlife to die.
Last week, we met with top EU Commissioners to persuade them to stop subsidising palm oil as fake ‘green fuel’. We were able to arrange this last-minute meeting only because they were impressed by the amount of tweets and signatures this petition has gained across Europe. Unfortunately they are still scared by the threats they’re receiving from palm oil lobbyists and we risk losing this vital fight.
We need you to send a Tweet now to Commissioners like Malström, Cañete, Timmermans and Juncker to convince them to take palm oil out of our fuel tanks.

There’s a risk that the new rules may never be adopted because top Commissioners like Malström, Cañete, Timmermans and Juncker are being lobbied hard by the palm oil lobby, especially the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia who want to expand palm oil plantations. [1]
We’re so close to a historic victory. If we can persuade these Commissioners to ban palm oil diesel, it could lead to the win we need for orangutans and our forests!
They need to feel the pressure. No Commissioner will want to be seen as being responsible for the death of orangutans. Our tweets can make a difference and taking out ads on Twitter can improve our chances of swinging the vote our way. We know that the palm oil lobby is on the attack.

When top Commissioners in Brussels look at their phones or computers we want them to see thousands of tweets they can’t miss, demanding they get onboard to stop subsidising palm oil and save orangutans and our forests.
We’ve already used our collective voice to get the EU to ban some of the worst single-use plastics and for the EU to increase transparency in our food system. Let’s get another win for the environment and stop subsidising palm oil fuel! Tweet now!
