Advisory: CRIC 17 Media registration kicks
off Online accreditation
for CRIC 17 starts today and ends 10
January.
The online registration and
accreditation of media representatives covering
the Seventeenth Session of the Committee for the
Review of Implementation of the Convention
(CRIC17) starts today and ends 10 January 2019.
CRIC 17 will take place on 28-30 January 2019 in
Georgetown, Guyana.
Scientists,
government and civil society representatives
from around the world will recommend actions to
reverse land degradation based on a report that
assesses the global extent of land degradation,
prepared using new data gathered during the last
2 years. This is the first time Parties to the
Convention have compiled a report using data
collected using a uniform methodology, in terms
of the indicators measured and the technology
used.
Media participants are invited to
cover the meeting. No fees are charged to attend
or cover the meeting, but accreditation is
required. To apply for your accreditation, click
on this link.<https://reg.unog.ch/event/27508/>
To
complete the online application for
accreditation, a passport size photograph, a
valid press card, a letter from the media
organization sponsoring the journalist(s), and
copies of the passport (a must for foreign
journalists) or national identity card for the
locally based journalists must also be uploaded.
Original copies of these documents must be
presented at the Conference in January in order
to get the badge to access the Conference
premises.

The United
Nations Convention to Combat Desertification
(UNCCD) is an international agreement on good
land stewardship. It helps people, communities
and countries create wealth, grow economies and
secure enough food, clean water and energy by
ensuring land users an enabling environment for
sustainable land management. Through
partnerships, the Convention’s 197 parties set
up robust systems to manage drought promptly and
effectively. Good land stewardship based on
sound policy and science helps integrate and
accelerate achievement of the Sustainable
Development Goals, builds resilience to climate
change and prevents biodiversity
loss. | | |
