[cid:image0...@01DB9E64.8ADA6B90] OUT NOW! Second Report on the State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources<https://doi.org/10.4060/cd4838en> This major publication highlights the crucial role of genetic resources in maintaining the resilience and productivity of forests and their capacity to adapt to climate change. It stresses their importance for food security, nutrition, livelihoods, climate and biodiversity. Drawing on data from 77 countries – representing more than three-quarters of the global forest area – the report assesses the progress made in improving the management of forest genetic resources. It finds that there is a need to reinforce the conservation, use and sustainable development of these resources in the face of rising threats against them. The report emphasizes the need for better access to information, warning that it remains scattered and incomplete at the national level. It reviews scientific advances and concludes with recommendations for continued action at the national, regional and global levels to ensure that forest genetic resources are sustainably managed for the benefit of current and future generations.
