*[Enwl-eng] Project of FoE Russia at the Paris Peace Forum

FoE Russia and Interfax-Era presented their joint project “Rating for nature protection” at the Second Paris Peace Forum on November 11-13. The project was marked as the best governance tool by the Forum organisers. The tool can be used by banks, investment funds and development institutions for priority financing of the most environmentally responsible and transparent industries and companies that use the best available technologies (BAT) for sustainable development.
The Forum was held on November 12-13 with the participation of President of France Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary General António Guterres, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Van Qishan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, President of the Congo Félix Tshisekedi, as well as 30 more heads of state and more than 136 official delegations. The Forum goal was promoting the development of international cooperation and collective action to solve global problems.
The Forum was attended by more than 6 thousand people. They got the opportunity to Learn about the 100 best public initiatives selected in the competition in 6 thematic areas: peace and security, environment, development, new technologies, inclusive economy, culture and education.
The joint project of FoE Russia (Russian Social Ecological Union) and Interfax-ERA “Rating for Nature Protection," which passed a competitive selection, presents 20 years of experience of motivating businesses to increase their environmental responsibility and transparency by compiling environmental and energy efficiency ratings of companies. The project has proved its efficiency in Russia and Kazakhstan. In total, more than 6,000 companies in the real sector of the economy participate in the 2019 rating. The objectiveness of the rating tool is confirmed by the dynamics of the market value of the rating leaders. As of November 2019, the total dynamics of the share prices of the leaders in the rating was almost 40% ahead of the average market dynamics and never (in the whole monitoring period since 2007) fell below the market average. For the needs of portfolio investors at the New York Stock Exchange, Interfax-ERA ratings are monitored by CSRHub, which aggregates many non-financial assessments and broadcasts their results to Bloomberg agency terminals.
