Under the Trump
administration, the National Park Service just made it legal
for hunters to use the most brutal and inhumane hunting
methods over 20 million acres of Alaskan land, including
shooting bear cubs and wolf pups as they sleep with
their mothers. Hunters will now be allowed to blind
these animals with spotlights as they are cornered in their
dens, shoot caribou at their most vulnerable as they are
swimming, and use packs of trained dogs to hunt one single,
defenseless bear at a time.
The thin reasoning behind which
the administration is hiding is that these hunting practices
will decrease predators, and therefore increase other prey
wildlife such as deer. But hundreds of scientists who
oppose the rule change say that there is not nearly enough
evidence to support this idea. This is an obvious
attempt to appease hunters, and will only lead to the needless
pain, suffering, and potential depopulation of some of our
most precious species. Please sign the petition today demanding
that the National Park Service withdraw these rule changes
immediately!
Thank you,
