The multi-billion dollar camper van industry is hiding a dirty
secret – these vans are being built out of the ashes of
precious Indonesian rainforests, destroying the homes of endangered
orangutans and Indigenous communities.
A single logging company has clear-cut more than 40,000 hectares
in just five years, sold straight into the supply chains
of major RV (camper van) manufacturers in the U.S., Australia, and
Europe.
It’s all happening because the global RV industry has ZERO
sustainability standards. But now we have a chance to stop
Borneo’s rainforests from being bulldozed!
Nearly 100,000 of us are demanding that industry giants clean up
their wood supply chains immediately. And we’re gearing up
to launch a massive campaign push to expose these
companies and force the industry to change course.
If we can urgently raise enough, we could take our
message straight to the HQs of major companies in just a few
weeks! Together, we could unleash tactics
like powerful billboards, ads, on-the-ground
mobilisations, and whatever else it takes to defend our
natural world from corporate exploitation.

The RV or camper van industry is booming, worth $140 BILLION a
year, with over 11 million RV owners in the United States alone. The
biggest companies use a special wood found in Borneo called lauan —
the “perfect” wood for camper vans because it's both hard, flexible,
and inexpensive.
The destruction and Indigenous land-grabbing became so rampant
that the Indonesian government recently issued a stop-work
order. But the RV industry hasn’t slowed down for a second. And
now it’s time to escalate.
The RV industry has been getting away with flying under the radar
but now we’re rapidly rolling out a plan to put the biggest
companies on notice with a high-profile petition delivery in
Elkhart, Indiana, the heart of the U.S. RV industry. Then we’ll
coordinate with partners to launch winning tactics like installing
hard-hitting billboards all around company HQs, targeted ads to top
decision-makers, and exposing this environmental nightmare in the
media.
Can you chip in to stop rainforest destruction and protect
this crucial orangutan habitat before it’s too late?

and our campaigns worldwide fighting for people and the
planet.
When palm oil exploded two decades ago, there were no
sustainability standards — and Indonesia’s rainforests were
devastated. But relentless pressure from workers, consumers, and
activists, including Ekō members, forced the industry into the
spotlight. The result? Palm oil–driven deforestation dropped by
over 90% in just 10 years.
That change didn’t happen by accident. It happened because people
refused to look away. Now let’s do it again — before the RV industry
locks in decades of destruction.
