"This material includes two global 100% renewable energy scenarios (one with a carbon budget for 2.0C and the other for 1.5C) as well as a comprehensive analysis of required land-use changes and non-energy GHG.
The energy scenario is a further development of the Energy [R]evolution scenario which I have been working on between 2004 and 2015.
So what is the difference to the Energy [R]evolution series?
- We have broken the 10 regions (from IEA – also used for E[R]) into 72 subregions
- 72 subregions are modelled in 1-hour steps with local solar and wind data
- It’s the first 1.5C scenario which does not use nuclear and CCS
- It’s one of the first scenarios which includes land-use (forests) and other GHG gases (SOx, CFC’s etc) besides energy
- This scenario actually includes electricity storage demand
- We calculated the employment impacts
- We also calculated the lithium and cobalt (for batteries) demand and silver (for solar PV)
The results are presented on a dedicated website – www.oneearth.uts.edu.au – and the 500+ pages book published by Springer (open access) will soon be available at https://www.springer.com/la/book/9783030058425 ."
