Training Session on General Aspects of
DCFTA
November 6-9, 2017 Rural Communities Development Agency held
the second
training session organized within the frame of the project
“Regional Civil
Society Organizations as Vectors of Rural Economic
Development” on the
topic: General Aspects of DCFTA, in Mtskheta
Municipality.
4 day training was attended by the representatives
of CSOs from
Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions. The
participants had
opportunity to get information about main requirements of
trade with EU
countries, food safety standards, sanitary and phyto-sanitary
requirements;
amendments already made and those to be made in the
legislation of Georgia
under DCFTA; also, regulations and procedures to be
followed according to
the EU requirements.
As a result of the
training participants have gained the knowledge where and
how to get
information on different regulations and export requirements of
European
markets. Their awareness on the strategy of Georgian government
concerning
rural development was raised and they have more clear
understanding of
opportunities for foreign investments, customs regulations,
and modern
approaches of food safety in the Country.
During the training the
participants have visited a model enterprises that
is established following
the EU food safety standards in village Khando of
Mtsketa
Municipality. At the end of the training the participants have
discussed
following steps for establishment of information-resource desks in
Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions, which shall provide
information on DCFTA issues to small and medium enterprises, farmers groups,
small businesses, cooperatives and general public.
