Big companies like Amazon make billions in profits in Europe. Yet they barely pay any taxes. A group of EU leaders teamed up to pass a law that could help stop this injustice. But France and other countries are standing their way. SIGN to force companies to finally pay up!

Hi,

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, earns over $13 million per hour. But his company barely pays any tax in Europe. [1]

To avoid the rules and pocket billions, companies like Amazon hide their profits in the most shady of places – "tax havens". Vladimir, we pay our fair share of taxes. So why shouldn’t Amazon and other tech giants?

Denmark, Finland and others are taking them on by supporting a law that would make tech giants do just that: disclose how much money they make wherever they operate, in any country in the world, so they face public pressure to pay up. So what’s standing in their way? France and a group of other EU countries. They want to water down the ambition of this law and push for sneaky exemptions which would let companies continue hide their profits in tax havens. [2]

If thousands of us champion the call of those counries that are brave enough to stand up to tech giants with a strong petition, it could tip the balance in our favour before a critical vote in just a few weeks. If we reach 100,000 signatures, we’ll deliver our call right before the vote.

Add your name to make companies like Amazon pay their fair share:

When the pandemic forced us to stay home and small local shops to close, big online companies came out on top. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon’s profits have increased nearly 200%. [3]

And these trillion-dollar companies still pay less towards our public services than people like us – employees, owners of small businesses or retirees. Why? Because they can afford an army of well paid lobbyists pressuring EU leaders to let them get away with it.

Europe is on the verge of passing a law that could help stop this injustice. But the negotiations are very tight in the lead up to this vote. If we show that we are on the side of EU leaders who call for tax justice, they could resist the pressure of these monster companies!

We're no strangers to taking on big companies – from the fighting Bayer and Monsanto in our call against the toxic weed killer glyphosate, to challenging the likes of H&M and Primark in our battle for paying living wages to textile workers. So let’s do it again: add your name to make companies like Amazon pay their fair share! It takes 10 seconds.

In solidarity,
David (London), Olga (Bologna), Alex (Marseille) and the entire WeMove Europe team

PS: According to the Tax Justice Network, every second, tax dodgers keep the equivalent of one nurse’s salary out of our public budgets and in their offshore accounts. [4] Their selfishness has brutal consequences, which we saw first hand when we desperately needed frontline health workers during the pandemic. If the EU increases corporate transparency and stops tax dodging, we could easily fund essential services such as health care. Sign the petition!
