Air pollution is deadly. We need more research to understand and combat it.

Air Pollution Is Linked to Deadly New Pattern of Lung Cancer, Even in People Who Never Smoked

Lung cancer has long been associated with smoking. But now, shocking new research is revealing a terrifying trend: more and more non-smokers are being diagnosed with this deadly disease.

Experts warn that air pollution could be a major culprit, yet we still lack the full picture. We desperately, urgently need more research.

Lung cancer is already the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, and it's only getting worse. Studies show that lung cancer in people who have never smoked is now the fifth highest cause of cancer-related deaths. In 2022 alone, a staggering 200,000 cases of one particularly aggressive form of lung cancer — adenocarcinoma — were directly linked to air pollution. Scientists fear this number will continue to rise as pollution worsens across the globe.

Many of these individuals never had a choice. They never picked up a cigarette. They never engaged in any known risky behavior. And yet, they are still fighting for their lives anyway.

Non-smokers who develop this disease may not even know they are at risk. As a result, they are diagnosed too late — when survival chances are grimmer.

Sign the petition to ask for urgent research into the direct link between air pollution and lung cancer in non-smokers and strong international policies to reduce air pollution and protect public health!
