Nutella: should the label say “made with child labour”?
Serious allegations have surfaced. Hundreds of children may be working on Turkish farms every year, picking the hazelnuts that go into Nutella.[1]
If it’s true, it’s breaking the law. And this back-breaking labour instead of time in school could ruin these kids’ chance at a good life.
Can you chip in to help fund an urgent investigation? If we raise the money, we’ll work with the Center for Child Rights in Turkey [2] to capture video evidence and fund investigators.

Imagine you’re 10 years old. Instead of being in school, when the time comes for the month-long hazelnut harvest, you travel with your family to a farm. You’ll stay in overcrowded conditions and work long hours in the heat. Sweating, picking nuts, carrying sacks.
Nutella is made by Ferrero -- a family business. But they don’t seem to care about the welfare of the kids who are allegedly labouring in hazelnut farms to boost their wealth. [3]
The boss Giovanni Ferrero is the richest man in Italy. His personal fortune is $22 billion! [4]
As seasonal workers and their children soon travel to hazelnut farms for the start of the picking season, can you chip in so we can urgently investigate these claims? With the evidence we gather, we’ll hold Ferrero to account if it’s true.

PS: If we find evidence of child labour along Ferrero’s supply chain, the chocolate company will be forced to terminate these contracts. Ferrero says it has Zero Tolerance approach and claims that it will terminate any contracts where children are working.[5] Donate to know whether Nutella is made with child labour.
