Residents of Aktau are
concerned about the state of the coastal zone
and are calling attention to the worsening
environmental situation. Since May 2025,
satellites have been detecting new
oil-containing slicks in the Caspian Sea on a
weekly basis.
The roadmap outlines a
list of priority reforms, policies, and
structural changes that must be implemented over
the next two years to ensure environmentally
sustainable and stable recovery.
The agency will focus
on digital forest monitoring, the development of
nurseries, the implementation of "smart"
forestry, and the execution of the national
project "Yashil Makon."
Armenia has launched
its first sanitary landfill for municipal solid
waste, worth €14.8 million, marking the start of
a systematic reform in waste management. In the
coming months, around 7,000 waste containers
will be installed and dozens of illegal dumps
will be closed. The reform is expected to
improve the ecology of the Sevan Basin and boost
tourism development.
The agreement aims to
implement joint projects on climate change,
water pollution, and biodiversity conservation.
It includes experience and technology exchange,
joint research, and initiatives to improve the
environmental situation in the
region.
The Moldovan government
has approved the introduction of a Deposit
Return System. When purchasing drinks in glass
bottles, PET containers, or aluminum cans,
consumers will pay a deposit. After use, the
packaging can be returned to special collection
points for a refund.
A powerful storm with
heavy rain, hail, and strong winds swept across
Belarus, damaging infrastructure, toppling
hundreds of trees, and leaving many settlements
without power. According to “Belenergo,”
electricity was restored in 600 settlements.
Work continues in another 167 settlements,
mainly in the Mogilev, Minsk, and Vitebsk
regions.
Serious environmental
issues have been reported in several lakes in
Azerbaijan, including a recent mass fish
die-off. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and
Natural Resources claimed no responsibility,
stating the incident occurred on private
property.
In a village in the
Altai region, 235 residents staged a protest
against gold mining and investors who are
“developing tourism” without regard for local
communities or the environment. So far, local
authorities have not responded to the
protesters.
