Vladimir,
Coastal GasLink is currently
constructing yet another massive, 416-mile pipeline, and
the Royal Bank of Canada is funding it. The proposed
pipeline will cut through Wet'suwet'en land without
approval from hereditary chiefs, and just
like all other pipelines, is nearly guaranteed to leak
eventually. On top of that, the Arctic and
Antarctic just reported temperatures seventy degrees
above average because of global warming. But apparently
the Royal Bank of
Canada doesn't care about climate destruction or
environmental justice.
As Indigenous activists around
the world have pointed out, native people are fighting
on the front lines of climate change, in part because
corporations threaten their sovereignty
so often with these absurd, unjust projects. The
Wet'suwet'en people have been vocal in their opposition
to this pipeline, fighting hard to protect their own
rights and the environment, wildlife, air, soil, and
water that they so deeply respect and rely on.
We must join them in this fight and put pressure
on the Royal Bank of Canada to demonstrate that they
care about the sovereignty of native people and the
future of the earth. No banks will even
exist if the planet literally becomes uninhabitable.

Royal Bank of Canada: divest from this gas pipeline
project
