Nigeria’s leaders: enforce the timber export ban now!
Dear friends of the rainforests,
Gorillas, chimpanzees, and elephants –
Nigeria’s rainforests are home to some of the planet’s most
extraordinary wildlife. Yet these forests are being destroyed at a
frightening pace. President Bola Tinubu has now taken an important
step by banning the export of timber and wood products.
A political milestone – and a rare
glimmer of hope.
“The export ban acknowledges the bitter
truth that illegal logging has become a national crisis,” says our
Nigerian partner Odey Oyama.
But a decree alone will not stop the
destruction. The ban must be enforced with determination, backed
by transparency and strong partnerships with local communities.
Odey is working tirelessly toward
this goal – and he’s counting on your support.

help protect Nigeria’s forests!
