Ifirst purchased this game and a couple of expansions and extra planes on Steam around mid last year. A few weeks ago, I purchased the Battle of Bodenplatte and few collector planes directly through the IL2 website.
I'm running a VR headset, specifically the RIFT S. I run Open Composite software (which bypasses SteamVR) due to the fact that SteamVR does not work well with the Rift S headset and basically I get much better performance running OpenComposite instead of SteamVR.
However, when I log run the game I login to it using my IL2 account and it only picks up the planes and Bodenplatte planes through that I purchased from the site, and none of the planes I have from Steam.
Ahh, ok. I was confused because someone wrote in an old 2017ish thread on this forum, that you don't need steam running to start the game via il2.exe in steam gamefolder. Indeed it does when you have your accounts linked, but the content bought on steam is still missing then.
I don't even have VR. But I have both il2 game folders on my ssd system drive and was wondering if I may delete one of them to save some space. Looks like I only need to keep steam version to access all content I bought.
It would be possible to do it, it just requires code to configure, but it seems its not going to happen, and not because its not technically possible to do it Personally I don't like this and think it ,... well , sucks as I'm now forced to use the steam client to access recent new steam purchases. (even though my old steam purchases work fine with standalone client). Most of my content is non steam purchased, but if i don't use the linked steam client , none of the recent steam purchases are avail.
Seems like I have similar problems linking as noted in my post, and have not been successful in linking yet. Here is the background I have, and problems linking Steam purchased items with 1C Game Studios (IL2Sturmovik.com) purchases. I should add I did print a copy of the PDF as recommended by =RS=Stix_09 on how to link Steam accounts (BOS, Battle of Kuban, Blazing Steppe, etc and IL2Sturmovick.com purchased items using the guide ( ). I was also looking at purchasing from IC Game Studios some recent sale items sent out on 4-24-20 too, but need to wait until I can confirm linking works.
1. I have BOS Deluxe game I purchased on Steam. Later purchased Battle of Kuban, Blazing Steppe, Battle of Bodenplatte on Steam, along with other planes, and all are visible on the Steam installed Battle of Stalingrad. No problems here.
4. When I launch Battle of Stalingrad from STEAM (using the green button), I do not get the screen to pop up which you input your email and password for Steam and the "Link Accounts and Login" in the green box to Il2Sturmovik.com account. Not sure why I don't get it. I have logged out of my Steam account, then logged back in to my Steam account, and then opened Battle of Stalingrad on STEAM again, and still do not see the screen to log in to link accounts. From the Guide, it says when you launch the BOS game for the first time after the update 3.004 release you should be getting the link screen which is shown in the guide.
5.As a side note when I try to launch IL2Sturmovik from the install program on the IL2Sturmovik website, the Battle of Stalingrad does not launch either, as it does not recognize the Steam installed version of BOS.
Yes, my Steam and IL2 email address are the same, but different passwords. Yesterday after posting the above note, I did get the window where you have the option to link accounts, somehow I followed the directions in the guide above, and still did not have access to the content I bought on the IL2Sturmovik.com site. I guess I am faced with only purchasing new content on Steam, rather than on the IL2 site. I did put a Support note into IL2 Sturmovik site, so will see if they come up with any suggestions.
note: It does not matter if you use a different email for steam from your IL-2 account. what you are linking is your steam ID to your IL-2 login ( at
il2sturmovik.com)., not your steam email address to your il-2 login (they CAN use the same email address , but it has no impact on this if they are , or are not the same)
To confirm your steamID is linked to your website ID (ie the account you brought stuff direct from website with) , if you login to the IL-2 website (at " =/about/" ) with your steam ID to login (ie not the linked website login because you want to test the steam id is linked) , you should see the IL-2 content you have purchased(from website), if you do not then you have not linked your steam id to that account correctly
4. When I launch Battle of Stalingrad from STEAM (using the green button), I do not get the screen to pop up which you input your email and password for Steam and the "Link Accounts and Login" in the green box to Il2Sturmovik.com account. You only get the prompt to link accounts the first time you run a fresh install of the steam client version of the game(because it saves this info on your computer after this, and in your case it sounds like that saved info is incorrect). I think it also prompts every launch if you have never linked accounts.
BTW that email login you enter here is the website ID account login info, not your steam info (game already knows your steam login info if you use steam client and are logged into steam)
