According to the World Health Organization (WHO), we are currently experiencing the largest outbreak of dengue in world history, with over 12.4 million cases reported this year alone.

Expert Presentations:
- Dr. Erin Cloherty: An entomologist with the City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite & Rodent Control Board and a NEHA Vector Program Committee Member, Dr. Cloherty will delve into the intricacies of dengue. Learn how to identify the disease, understand its impact on human health, and explore the factors driving its global surge and increasing presence in the United States.
- John Townsend: As the Vector Control Division Manager at Maricopa County Environmental Services, John Townsend will share his experience managing the rapid response to the dengue outbreak in Maricopa County, Arizona, which occurred in November 2022. He will discuss the first locally acquired human dengue virus infection and the coordinated efforts to control it.
- Dr. Ryan Hemme: An entomologist with the Dengue Branch of the Division of Vector-borne Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Hemme will offer his expertise in mosquito control, surveillance, and bite prevention. Gain valuable insights into effective strategies for managing mosquito populations and reducing the risk of dengue transmission with a focus on the Puerto Rico perspective.
