Fungi for Filtration and Other Natural Systems for Stormwater Treatment

While runoff from undeveloped areas benefits ecosystems, urban stormwater is often conveyed quickly to the ocean to reduce flood risk. But how can this water, which is often highly polluted, be viewed as a resource? In my talk, I will discuss new technologies to remove pollutants from urban stormwater so it can be repurposed for other uses, such as ecosystem services, community aesthetics, and drinking water. I will also discuss how these new technologies can be implemented at the regional scale to meet water quality standards and reduce toxicity to aquativ systems.

LIGHT REFRESHMENTS PROVIDED.  ALL ARE WELCOME.
