Coast Redwood Seedling Regeneration One and Eight Years Following Wildfire in the Santa Cruz Mountains

The coast redwoods that lie in the southern extent of the species’ natural range are quite different ecologically, compositionally, and genetically than the trees in the middle and northern portions of the range.  Although trees of basal sprout origin are more common, redwood trees can also regenerate from seedlings. This study quantifies seedling regeneration in a southern coast redwood forest one and eight years after wildfire.
