Hi ENVS,

Take note of this upcoming opportunity! The Student Alumni Association (SAA) is inviting students, alumni, and faculty to a short film screening, keynote discussion, dinner, and reception on Wednesday April 1st from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. To RSVP, please click this link

The current ENVS 400 Senior Capstone section is pursuing novel research situated in the Albina neighborhoods of NE Portland, and next year's ENVX symposium will explore what might make cities feel like home. So the Albina partnership is very relevant for ENVS!

From SAA:

We are inviting both students, alum, and interested faculty in learning more about the partnership between Lewis & Clark College and the Albina Vision Trust (AVT). We will be watching a short film screening on the Albina Neighborhood, centering the decades of displacement caused by 1950s/60s urban renewal, including the construction of I-5, which destroyed homes and wealth in a district once home to 80% of Portland’s Black population. After, Sarah Warren, the lead of this partnership, will present about Lewis and Clark’s involvement with the Albina Vision Trust, a community driven non profit focusing on restorative development and social equity in Portland. Students and Alumni will then have a chance to engage in a Q&A session. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about Portland's history, Lewis and Clark’s new partnership, and meet Alumni who are passionate about social justice!
