Environmental Studies faculty,
Hello! My name is Katia Kupelian, and I’m a current Professional Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Lewis & Clark. I’m reaching out because I’m facilitating an in-person climate grief & eco-anxiety peer support group this spring through the Good Grief Network at the L&C Graduate Campus. The group is open to the L&C community and beyond
As you well know, students and professionals focused on environmental issues are carrying a great deal right now: grief, pressure, urgency, and fatigue connected to the climate crisis and broader ecological challenges. This group is designed as a space to unburden some of that weight, feel less alone in it, and build emotional resilience alongside others engaged with these issues.
What this is:
Supportive, small-group meetings following Good Grief Network’s 10-Step Program. Together we’ll process climate emotions, share openly, and explore practices that help transform overwhelm into meaning, steadiness, and connection — something many people working in environmental fields find deeply needed.
Who it’s for:
Anyone — students, professionals, and community members at L&C and beyond — who feels burnt out, disconnected, or demoralized by the climate crisis and related social/ecological challenges, and who would benefit from a space to reflect and reconnect to purpose in community.
What sessions include:
Group sharing, grounding practices, journaling, poetry, and thoughtful resources. The space will be co-facilitated by me and Frances Star; both of us are certified facilitators with Good Grief Network.

I would truly appreciate your help with passing this along to students or colleagues who might benefit. Supporting the emotional sustainability of people doing climate and environmental work feels especially important right now!
Warmly,
