Dear colleagues,

I am happy to share that in spring 2026 the Russian Section is offering two courses taught in English open to all students. Please, find details below:

1) RUSS 290 Environmental Themes in Soviet Culture  offered MWF 12.40-1.40
  • cross-listed elective for ENVS and Ethnic Studies
  • counts towards GE: Culture/Power/ID, Global Prspvs or Creative Arts
Offers a broad historical overview of the development and use of various ideas concerning the surrounding world in late Imperial and Soviet cultures. Includes films and short fiction, in addition to scholarly articles.

2) (2 credits!) RUSS 211  Resistance Literature: The Soviet Short Story  offered Wed 3-4.30
  • a broad survey course of Soviet short fiction from the avant-garde to the 1980s

Flyers attached.

For more information, feel free to reach out via email.

My best,
Masha

Regular announcements that do not invite back-and-forth discussion (e.g., "tickets on sale for the Dance Extravaganza", "workshop to be hosted by Gen Ed./Core") and official College business may be sent to the cas-f...@lclark.edu email address. But all "conversations" have a home at cas-...@lclark.edu. If you would like to subscribe to this College of Arts and Sciences opt-in/opt-out discussion-based listserv or have any questions about CAS listservs, please contact Debbie Richman in the Dean's office.
