Hi ENVS students,
Hopefully you have heard that the Gender Studies Symposium, "
RESIST NOW!" will run
next week (March 11-13). There are an enormous number of events - it's a 5-ring show! There is truly something there for everyone, so take a moment to look through the
schedule of workshops, readings, panel discussions, and keynote events to find something that interest you!
Specifically, one of the GSS co-chairs, Kindle Murray, suggested the following panel might be particularly relevant for ENVS majors:
On Friday, March 13th, Sang-hyoun Pahk will deliver a talk on climate resistance and militarized borders, connecting Palestine and the United States-Mexico border.
- Panel: Blurring Borders: Justice, Colonialism, Sovereignty, and Resistance (1:45–3:15 p.m., Gregg Pavilion)
- Yu-Fang Cho, professor of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, University of Oregon, “Reproductive Justice and Decolonization in the Marshall Islands”
- Razan Ghazzawi, assistant professor of women, gender, and sexuality studies, Oregon State University, “Popular Sovereignty and Trans Mothering of Anti-War Syrian Soldiers”
- Sang-hyoun Pahk, assistant professor of sociology, Pacific University, “Climate Resistance and the Palestine-Mexico Border”
See additional information below. Enjoy!
