Hi ENVS friends,

If you are available June 21 – July 4 this summer, you might consider joining this trip to Tianjin & Beijing, hosted by Meiru Liu (Chinese instructor at LC).

The trip is open to all LC students — with or without Chinese language background— are welcome.

In 2023 Chinese President XI Jinping announced an initiative to “invite 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over the next five years.” That initiative covers the costs of all tuition, room and board, visa fees, and domestic transportation during the two week stay in China. Students are only responsible for their spending money and round‑trip airfare to Beijing.

If you might be interested, please reach out to the trip leader, Meiru Liu <l...@lclark.edu> directly. There are also 3 attachments below with additional information.

ENVS students Kayla Beaird and Ashlyn Kelly (and others?) have attended this trip in previous summers -- reach out to either of them for an inside scoop! What a neat opportunity.

Subject: Two Open Spots for Students on Summer China Program
To: Jessica Kleiss <jkl...@lclark.edu>

Hi Jessica,

It was wonderful seeing you the other day. I hope the end of the semester is going smoothly for you.

I wanted to share a quick update: I’ve just heard from two students who originally signed up for the two‑week China trip but have withdrawn due to internship conflicts. This means we now have two available spaces for your students who may be interested in participating in this summer’s two‑week China study program hosted by Tianjin Normal University.

The program runs June 21–July 4 and includes tuition, room and board, and domestic transportation during the two weeks in China. Students are responsible only for their round‑trip airfare from a U.S. hub city to Beijing.

I’ve attached some useful information for you to share with any interested students. If they are seriously considering joining, please have them contact me directly so I can provide next steps.

Thank you again for your support, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Meiru
