Film Screening & Dialogue with the Filmmaker:
Big Mountain Legacy, Last Stories of Díneh
Monday April 6th at 6pm
NEW LOCATION: South Chapel, Graduate Campus
A documentary 20 years in the making tells traditional Díneh (Navajo) elders’ stories about living with forced relocation. In 1977, their lands were partitioned and they faced harsh laws, but instead, hundreds of them resisted. The film includes interviews that feature homeland creation stories, past colonial aggressions and ancestors’ survival, and final hopes that their messages will remain for future generations. Filmmaker NaBahe Katenay-Kéédíniihii will be in attendance, and there will be a post-screening Q&A. Snacks will be provided by Jawaher PDX!
