Hello everyone,
As we look towards advising next week, I am checking in about my ENVS 172 - Introduction to GIS & Mapping course offered again in both Summer and Fall 2026! This course is an introduction to theories and practice of working with, analyzing, and creating maps from spatial data using the GIS tools.
This class is open to all majors and has no prerequisites. This past academic year this course hosted a really diverse selection of LC majors, including Bio, Math & Computer Science, History, and more. I'd love to see that again now that the course has its own official course number!
I'm very happy to chat with any student about how GIS may be a good fit for them, so don't hesitate to send inquiries along. And until then... Please share the tiny attached graphic with any student communities who might be interested!
Thank you all and Happy Friday,
Alana (Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies)
