Dear colleagues,
I hope the new semester is off to a good start for you. If you have students interested in archaeology or history, please let them know about an upcoming lecture. On Thursday 2/5 at 3:30 pm in Miller 102, I'll be talking about the recently completed excavations of an ancient Roman villa at Vacone, Italy. I was among the excavators at the site for six summer seasons, often alongside LC students. Here's the description of the lecture:
Excavations north of Rome have uncovered
the remains of an ancient villa occupied for centuries of Roman History. Richly
illustrated with slides, this presentation will examine the daily work at an
active archaeological site, and how scholars interpret material remains to
increase our knowledge of the past.
