Hands-On Volunteer Field Research OpportunitiesAdventure Scientists partners with scientific organizations and agencies to collect critical environmental data through field-based projects. Students and staff can gain real-world research experience while contributing to conservation efforts across the Pacific Northwest. Opportunities include collecting killer whale migration and absence data along the Oregon coast; hiking into northwest forests to place and retrieve passive acoustic recording devices for the US Forest Service to gather sound data on threatened and endangered forest-critical species during their most vocal period; and traveling to high alpine terrain to gather presence/absence data and perform health assessments of whitepark pine trees. Opportunities are well-suited for environmental science, outdoor recreation, and related disciplines and take place now and during the summer field season. Neat! So this sounds like targeted citizen science? I could imagine some of our students might be interested. You might also want to reach out to our College Outdoors program (camping etc.) for possible cool collaborations. College Outdoors <outd...@lclark.edu>.I look forward to hearing more.- Jessica
