Subject: Please share/announce: Gender Studies Symposium Call for Proposals
To: cas-faculty <cas-f...@lclark.edu>

Dear Colleagues,

We are now soliciting proposals for presentations at the 45th Annual Gender Studies Symposium. This year's submission deadline is Friday, November 7.

Scheduled for March 11-13, 2026, this year's symposium is titled "RESIST NOW!and will focus on resistance, activism, and solidarity in feminist, queer, and trans frameworks. To learn more about this year's theme, please read the overview drafted by the co-chairs.

Our Call for Proposals identifies some aspects of this topic that interest the committee, but we welcome all proposals exploring issues of gender and sexuality.

Please take a moment to identify students from past or present courses whose papers, research projects, or creative work would be appropriate for presentation. Though we are circulating the CFP among students, we know that many of them do not think their work is strong enough to present unless they receive direct encouragement from professors. This symposium is a great opportunity for our students to speak at a conference, receive feedback, and make connections with other students, faculty, and community leaders.

We also invite you to submit proposals to present your own work, of course! Symposium panels often include graduate students and faculty from other institutions.

Please visit our website for complete submission guidelines and descriptions of possible presentation formatsalong with information about this year's events.

All proposals are due by 5 pm on Friday, November 7.

We would be grateful if you would forward this email and the attached announcement to your classes, in addition to encouraging individual students. You are welcome to print and post the attached flyer.

On behalf of this year's student co-chairs and the full planning committee, thank you for your support!

Best wishes,
Kim

Regular announcements that do not invite back-and-forth discussion (e.g., "tickets on sale for the Dance Extravaganza", "workshop to be hosted by Gen Ed./Core") and official College business may be sent to the cas-f...@lclark.edu email address. But all "conversations" have a home at cas-...@lclark.edu. If you would like to subscribe to this College of Arts and Sciences opt-in/opt-out discussion-based listserv or have any questions about CAS listservs, please contact Debbie Richman in the Dean's office.
