Hello to my L&C contacts!
I'm reaching out to a few of you at L&C with hopes you can connect us to students! We are still looking to hire for Lewis & Clark College's
Pre-College Summer Programs. I think most of you know (or run!) these programs, but these are attempts to get more high schoolers to engage Lewis & Clark, to explore a topic of interest, and to get an authentic but age appropriate college experience. We have already seen high enrollment at L&C from attendees who graduate from these programs!
Because of the nature of the summer, we do not have a single season of work - instead, we have two distinct weeks where we're hoping to bring on L&C students interested in serving in RA / Counselor roles. While the ability to drive campus vehicles is a plus, it is not required. We can also provide support and training commensurate with experience.
These programs pay about $900 - $1,000 / week, involve living on campus with room and board provided, but have flexible daytime schedules (outside of field trip days) and a lot of support. Myself and alumni Elise Pfrommer, cc'd, will oversee teams, and help coach students through challenging scenarios as they occur - it's a great stepping stone into residential work, expedition work, or youth development.
Contracts typically start a day before the camp to allow time for training. We have roles open the following camps:
- Future Health Leaders: June 21–26 (several slots)
- Data in Action: July 12–17 (one slot at this time)
- Circular Innovation Challenge: July 12–17 (one slot at this time)
Students who join can also fully participate in the programs as desired - and they are fun!
As students return from Spring Break, if you know of anyone who might be a good fit - please let them know about us! Alternatively, send us their information and we'll reach out. We also have a shareable job description and additional details
here. Elise Pfrommer, an alumni and our program director for these camps, is cc'd and can answer questions.
Thanks for passing the word along!
Micah
