Hi CAS-FACULTY,
I am writing to let you know that my introductory art and technology course, ART 112: Digital Media I, is going to be offered this summer (session 2) and next fall.
In ART 112: Digital Media I students are taught to critically engage with technology, both as a medium for making works of art, and as a dominant and integral aspect of contemporary life. Not only do students learn technical proficiency, for example, how to record and edit video and sound, they also learn how to be critical in their approach and relationship with technology.
If you have students who may be interested in using technology creatively as an artistic medium, becoming more comfortable working with technology (or improving their tech skills), and/or who want to think more critically about how technology like social media, surveillance, and AI are changing the way we engage with the world, please consider encouraging them to look into ART 112. One thing to note, Digital Media I is a good option for students who both have and don't have experience working with technology. No experience required!
