Dear colleagues,
I'm enthusiastically passing along this announcement from Oregon Humanities, inviting Oregonians age 18-25 to apply for grants to develop/facilitate public humanities programs in their communities. Oreg Hum will give some preference to projects in rural communities or that engage other underrepresented groups -- so less useful for a student to focus on a project here at L&C, more about something a student might bring home to their community.
I don't know any more about the program than what I'm pasting in below, so please direct your students to Oregon Humanities for questions, encouragement, etc.

Oregon Humanities is now accepting proposals for our Humanities Action Fellowship. We’re looking for young adults aged 18–25 who are interested in developing or facilitating public humanities programs in their communities.
Fellows will receive a $1,500 honorarium, $1,000 toward approved project expenses, and support from a mentor to complete a community-focused project that brings people together across differences of background, experience, or belief.
To apply for this fellowship, please complete this application form. The application deadline is April 10, 2026.
This fellowship is intended to create opportunities for 4–6 young adults (aged 18–25) from around Oregon to develop and facilitate humanities projects that engage people in their local communities.
Oregon Humanities will aim to support fellows through the completion of their projects through mentoring, connection to a statewide network of other fellows, and project feedback, as well as funding and media exposure.
This fellowship is open to young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 who are living in Oregon at the time of application and throughout the program period. Selection priority will be given to people living in rural places and who belong to other underrepresented groups.
All projects need to connect to the humanities in some way and align with the mission and vision of Oregon Humanities. Examples include public conversations; short-form videos; film screenings and discussions; events focused on historical sites, events, and figures; public pop-ups to connect communities; exhibits; and podcasts.
If you have questions about the fellowship, please contact prog...@oregonhumanities.org.
