Good morning,

Please consider sharing this opportunity with your upcoming graduates. We are currently recruiting participants for the 2026-2027 cohort of One Health West Virginia, a paid research and mentorship program for recent BA/BS graduates interesting in gaining hands-on STEM experience.

My name is Brayden Hornsby, and I serve as the Project Coordinator for One Health WV. Our National Science Foundation-funded initiative prepares recent graduates for careers at the intersection of human, animal and environmental health while strengthening the STEM workforce in West Virginia and Central Appalachia.

No prior research experience is required, just an interest in STEM and professional growth.

Participant Benefits

  • $32,500 annual stipend
  • Additional research, travel and conference funding
  • One-on-one mentorship and laboratory training
  • Networking with local, state, and federal agencies and industry professionals
  • Professional development in communication and career skills

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must earn a BA/BS in a relevant field before the program start
  • Must apply before or within four years of graduation (extensions allowed for family, medical or military leave)
  • Cannot be enrolled in or accepted to a graduate program
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident
  • Must commit to the full program period:  August 1, 2026 - July 31, 2027, located at WVU, MU or WVSU
