If you haven't noticed, NOW is the time to find a great summer internship!  The message below highlights a great program that is run by the NSF (National Science Foundation), called REU: Research Experiences for Undergraduates. REUs are all paid, and typically occur at larger institutions. They are a GREAT experience, especially since you get to benefit from a small college setting all year long - stretch your wings to try out a big school during the summer!

See the annc. below for just one program. Check it out and apply if interested.  But more importantly, explore the MANY programs available at https://etap.nsf.gov/programs. (Actually, REUs are just one set of programs. Wow!)

Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to send a brief reminder and again share the attached flyer for our NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Food, Energy, and Water Security at Mississippi State University (May 26 – July 31, 2026).
This 10-week program provides a $7,000 stipend, housing and meals, and travel support, along with hands-on research opportunities in areas such as renewable energy, biochar, and water purification.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could continue to share this opportunity with your students—particularly those interested in environmentally focused research or considering graduate study.
Application deadline: February 15, 2026
Application site: https://etap.nsf.gov/award/8313/opportunity/11421
Thank you again for helping us spread the word.
Best regards,
Todd Mlsna
