I am reaching out in hopes that you could share this internship opportunity from Valpo Surf Project with your students and community at Lewis & Clark College. This non-profit has provided youth mentorship to various neighborhoods in Valparaíso, Chile since 2009. The program provides extracurricular activities like surfing, English lessons, environmental education, and vocational workshops to children living in precarious situations in some of the city's most impoverished neighborhoods. VSP helps break down various barriers to make the ocean more accessible to our students.
This is a one year volunteer opportunity. Ideal candidates should have intermediate proficiency in Spanish, however, no surf experience is required. In certain circumstances, the year long commitment may have exceptions, so I encourage all those interested to apply. In addition to the flyer attached, you can find more information about the program and the application link at the website HERE. This is a great opportunity for seniors/recent grads who are interested in traveling as well as those passionate about Surfing, the ocean, Spanish, environmental education, or TESOL.
For Lewis & Clark students that are actively participating in a semester abroad here in Valparaiso, they can also join our volunteer program, which is not a full-time commitment and would be more flexible with their class schedule. Students can apply to the volunteer program HERE.
Please reach out if you have any questions! Thank you for taking your time to read about this opportunity.
