SVG version of graphs?

This question is really for Carl...
Can you think of any reason why the graphs couldn't be ported over from Canvas to SVG?
I am very keen to do the port and if there is no reason why this shouldn't be possible then I will begin. The only reason I want to do this is because I have a library of tools already in SVG and I want to be able to scale the graphs dynamically.
