to Envision Halifax
Envision Halifax is pleased to announce it has received charitable
status after 3 years of persistent work towards this goal.
Charitable status invites us to think a bit differently about what we
do, what we have to offer and how to engage people. To this end, we
are hosting a conversation on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 10:00 -
12:00 (with lunch to follow), at the Hub on Barrington Street to
celebrate the fact we have charitable status and to explore how we can
use it to further our mission of igniting a culture of civic
engagement. We welcome people with great ideas who want to help
brainstorm and people who will be willing to role up their sleeves and
move some of those ideas into action.
Envision Halifax was founded in 2002 by the United Way and the
Shambhala Institute (now ALIA), with funding support from the
McConnell Foundation. From 2005 to 2009 it operated an annual 9 month
leadership program developed around U-Theory with a focus on
individual, team and community leadership growth and learning. It also
partnered with other initiatives like the Leaders of Today (LOT)
program, 4 Days of Forward Thinking and more.
