Here is an email I recieved:

Hi Jennah,

I am the campus field coordinator for National Wildlife Federation in the SE. My job is to support students, faculty and staff working to make their campuses and communities more sustainable. Please let me know if you would be interested in meeting up some time soon to discuss your efforts (I recently met with Dr. Paul, who suggested I reach out to you and the group). We (NWF) have resources to provide examples of best practices and student projects from other campuses, which can be found at www.campusecology.org . There is a lot of potential for great progress at KSU and I hope you will let me know if I can ever assist you in your work. Thanks!

Peace, Carly

Yeah Carly touched base with me and Chris S. last week. I think it'd be great to have the NWF in our network, especially for Earth Day or something. We can talk about this during the org. meeting on Monday maybe?

NWF looks like a solid group w/good programs. We might look into them a little further, but they look like a good group to affiliate with.

On that subject in general, not to be negative but you know we do need to watch who wants to be our pal. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here - I'd imagine you all know more about this than I do - but there are some environmental groups with weird agendas, and some of them have progressive faces but are backed by deep-conservative, big-industry and lobby money, and college enviros are easy targets for greenwashing publicity. I think that's less than one in ten, but the front-groups do exist. That being said, NWF looks fine.

By the way, Carly got me to enter some of my wildlife work in their yearly NWF photo contest. Don't worry - I'll still be humble when I win and become a world-famous wilderness photog.
