ICRISAT is seeking applications from a dynamic and highly innovative Natural
Resource Economist to undertake applied natural resource management research in
relation to improving the productivity and market competitiveness of cereal and
legume crops in collaboration with a team of economists and bio-physical
scientists. The Scientist (Internationally Recruited Staff) will be based at
ICRISAT Headquarters, in Patancheru, near Greater Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh,
India working within the Research Program on Markets, Institutions and
Policies.
- PhD in Resource Economics,
Natural Resource Management, Environmental Economics, or equivalent
- At least 5 years of relevant
experience in economic analysis of natural resources, contingent
valuation, and preparation of training materials for resource analysis and
management
- Good familiarity with
cost-benefit analyses, economic valuation techniques and scenario testing
- Demonstrated analytical
skills in problem identification/solving
- Good interpersonal skills
and ability to operate effectively across cultural boundaries and maintain
effective working relations with people of different national and cultural
backgrounds with respect for diversity
- Good analytical and
quantitative capabilities, including economic theory, and econometrics,
and other quantitative methods to measure economic benefits and costs of
projects and policies
- Computer and GIS literate;
proficiency in written and spoken English, with good communication skills.
