the post of
Senior Programme Officer – Climate Policy
WWF-India is a science based conservation organisation that has experience in
the field of conservation for over four decades and is dedicated to building a
healthy living planet for future generations by conserving biodiversity and
reducing footprints. WWF India’s Climate Change and Energy programme focuses on
influencing climate policy, devising appropriate adaptation strategies,
promoting renewable energy and overall low carbon development strategies, and
evaluating impacts of climate change on ecosystems and species.
Applications are invited from dynamic and self-motivated individuals, for this
senior position to manage and deliver on WWF’s climate change and energy agenda
with a particular focus on climate policy.
Location: New Delhi, with national/international travel involved.
The Job Profile:
• To assist in implementing WWF India’s existing and new initiatives on climate
change, with a primary focus on climate policy (follow/analyze/influence
climate policy issues in the context of global/national/state level actions and
their inter-linkages).
• Follow climate policy negotiation on behalf of WWF India and provide
strategic information on India’s position on climate policy in the various
UNFCCC and non-UNFCCC processes.
• Contribute to WWF Global Climate Initiative team keeping in view India’s
position on various aspects related to climate change as well as WWF-India’s
stand on these issues.
• Undertake research activities related to issues such as innovation,
technology transfer, financial mechanism in the climate change debate. Also,
prepare relevant documents for wider dissemination/advocacy.
• Assist in meeting technical and financial reporting for climate policy/climate
change projects, and provide programmatic support to various activities in the
climate change and energy division.
Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:
1. A Masters degree in Climate Policy/ Environmental Science/ Environmental
Engineering/ Economics/ Forestry/ Natural Resources/Development Studies/related
disciplines.
2. Proven experience of at least four years in Climate Change especially
climate policy/ environmental policy issues.
3. Ability to work with a team and multiple stakeholders and deliver results
under tight deadlines.
4. Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.
