Make Hawaii more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.

Implement vulnerable person legislation similar to legislation in place in the State of Washington.

Most fatal bicycle and pedestrian accidents involve speeding.  The hire the speed of the vehicle the more likely an collision is to be fatal.  Police must enforce speeding regulations particularly in residential communities where bikes are more common.

The caucus will discuss the Vulnerable Users Bill at its next caucus steering committee meeting 6/27 6pm.  Several states have passed legislation aimed at increasing penalties for drivers who hit bicyclists, pedestrians and others not encased in steel.  Here’s some information on the bill that recently passed on Washington State.  http://blog.cascade.org/category/advocacy/vulnerable-user-bill/
