Christopher Michlig is a Los Angeles-based artist working in a variety
of media ranging from collage to sculpture to film and video. The
focus of his practice is the manipulation of public formats of

structures to expand notions of referentiality

Jennifer Siegal: Generation Mobile : the Death of Distance
Jennifer Siegal is known for her work in creating the Prefab home of
the 21st century. She is founder and principal of the Los Angeles-
based firm Office of Mobile Design (OMD), which is dedicated to the
design and construction of responsible, sustainable, and precision
built structures.

Stephanie Smith: Lighten Up!
Ecoshack founder Stephanie Smith is an architectural designer, an
entrepreneur and a champion of light and nomadic lifestyles. Her
designs are inspired by the ad hoc, indigenous and archetypal
typologies typically found at the fringes of society and culture. Her
designs have been covered in many publications, including Dwell and
The New York Times. And she's recently presented her work at Harvard
University and The Whitney Museum

Sulan Kolatan lives and works in New York. She is the Principal of KOL/
MAC LLC, an architecture and design firm she co-founded with William
J. Mac Donald. The firm has been internationally acknowledged as a
leader in digital architecture and technologically innovative design.

This lecture will use Freud's concept of the uncanny to examine the
political and social implications of doubled forms within contemporary
popular culture… While often disregarded as empty
entertainment,superheroes, zombies, and luchas are more than the sum
of their parts. The uncanny double has maintained a consistent
presence in literature, philosophy, psychology and art from the
nineteenth century to the present day, but during certain moments of
historical crisis and social instability it has had a heightened
influence on culture.

for Downtown Los Angeles

Mr. David Riccitiello of the Community Redevelopment Agency, City of
Los Angeles (CRA/LA) will discuss the Agency's efforts to create more
walkable, pedestrian-oriented streets in Downtown Los Angeles. The CRA/
LA, together with the Urban Design Studio of the City Planning
Department; the Los Angeles Department of Transportation; the Bureau
of Engineering; and other City agencies, are currently developing new
street standards and urban design guidelines.
