Screensaver Rain

Irecently got the newest OS upgrade on my Roku Ultra and the only screensaver that works is the Logo rain one. Regardless of which Theme I run its not the Aquatic Life screensaver. I've restarted the player many times since the issue arose. Any help or ideas would be awesome.

since the latest update, I cannot get any screensaver on any of my 4 TVs, each with its own Roku stick. The only screensaver that displays is the Roku screensaver on all the TVs. Tried the aquarium and others and there seems to be no way to 'set' the screensaver. The only button that will work after the selection is the 'home' button.

I use the Roku clock screensaver for years now. Recently however Roku has been overriding my screensaver preference with a purple font Roku logo screensaver, I think it's called raining logos, I'm not certain. Why is Roku overriding my own screen shot preferences these last two weeks? The purple font screensaver is causing me problems (long story but I"m sensitive to that color).

The only solution I've found to this is to disable screensavers entirely but that's really a last resort. Any insight or suggestions is appreciated, I don't think I can delete the purple font screensaver from the device. Rebooting the device etc didn't make a difference.

I've seen a Purple Roku screen saver - and yes - I think it may be in Prime where I see it. You could look for a setting within Prime. Otherwise, you could tell Amazon that you don't like it, and something may (or may not) be done about it.

If you leave an app open -- not streaming, just open -- and the Roku goes into screensaver mode, it is possible that the app will either use its own screen saver, or an installed screensaver apart from your standard one. The raining logos is one that I've seen apps use. And that's not a new thing, I've seen that for some time.

interesting - generally what happens is I fall asleep during a show I am watching, often on Amazon Prime Video, I guess that is what you mean by an app. So, after that show ends, it winds up in the Amazon app interface. I guess you are saying that from there, it might not go back to my chosen screensaver but to a different one. Interesting. I suspect there is nothing I can do inside of Amazon Prime to prevent that from happening.

thanks! yes, the biggest thing I don't like is Amazon overriding my screensaver preferences.... I went into Prime and don't see any settings that address this, I guess I'll contact Amazon directly. I don't like my chances there of getting any change to happen, but it's helpful I guess to know....

closing the loop on this and thanks all for the help. I have determined this issue is specific to Prime (I guess it may happen in other apps, I don't know, but it definitely happens in Prime which I use the most). I have alerted Amazon tech support that Prime overrides the default screen saver selection users make in Roku. If this ever gets fixed I'll report back.

The explanation I eventually got (not from Roku, so take it with a grain of salt) was that your Roku is still technically active when paused, so it reaches for the designated low-resource screensaver, rather than the user-set default.

That's not a universal truth. Some apps do resort to the default screen saver. Some app have their own screen saver option. However, Roku may indeed do what you describe for those that don't have a certain coding, or as a fall-back if resources are low.

ETA in case it needs to be clarified: a Roku employee confirmed the Roku's supposed to be showing Logo Rain, not your selected 'default' screensaver, but could not tell me why. The explanation that LR is low-resources screensaver set as a true default came from a forum discussion elsewhere.

I'm not going to argue anything. I will, however, tell you how my stuff works. And it's as described. Some stuff goes to the Roku screensaver, and some stuff goes to an app defined screensaver (where you pick the screensaver from within the app), and some use a simple screensaver such as your contact described. I really don't care what someone says will happen; I know what actually happens on my Roku devices.

It does not work, since Adobe Flash was discontinued. Please update. This is the only Emoji Rain Screensaver, I see on the Internet. Since the End of Life of Adobe Flash, the screensaver is now a black screen.

I wanted to pretend to be in the matrix, googled "matrix screen saver". Followed the instructions and boom, I was done. I was little skeptical at first as I was reading a few comments that mentioned they were unsuccessful and faced some wrong turns. I am not a computer expert, but this has to be the easiest setup ever. I also have a couple of malware and virus protection software and did not detect any foul play.

Great! Works as intended! Downloaded to my Downloads folder at first, and then the Readme says to just place it in the windows directory. So I did, went to my screensaver settings, and it pops up right in the dropdown menu! The options are perfectly simple to mess with, and it looks legit! Matches my faux matrix rain idle colors on my SteelSeries keyboard. Thanks for the simple, and easy/user-friendly work!

Terrible, you have to hack the matrix to get it to work. Needles to say it does not work unless you do several things to your files, and if you can follow the steps provided that are entirely inaccurate and unhelpful. You can't just download and select in settings. An install sequence of a path of installation would be greatly beneficial.

I'm running a 38 inch curve at 4k resolution and this looks so damn good and the fact that there are settings for this screensaver makes this much more than just a plain screensaver. Easy to copy into the windows system32 folder and works like charm! Thank you

Something is "weird" with it, as after installation and tweaking to get it as i wanted it, all seemed fine. Though after reboot it's gone, the file itself is gone (except the downloadzip that i saved elsewhere) and the screensavers are off (got a different set than i had before, and no the matrix one isn't one of them, it seems like the old standard ones, though I deleted the windows ones which now have returned and ones that i could use before have disappeared).

I doubt it's a blackhat (114.5k dl's) and IF it is, the guy/gal is in for a suprise, was deemed a soft target at some point ages ago, had TAO in my network since (one of the "happy few" who got a SIGNINT msg). So if you're out there and this is malware of any sort - gl and i hope you make it out (note, not sarcasm).

i love this screen saver it is so cool because it's just like the movie that i have on dvd and it is so cool i love the way that it move's on my laptop computer thank you for showing me this screen saver i love it alot.

Has worked well and as advertised on all of my PC's (8) at the moment. I like being able to add your own message like but the words seem to come in random order. I wish you could have it appear in the order written. Simple to install if you take the time to read the directions and follow them.

I Really Like This Screen Saver It looks Really Cool & its Hard to Find a Good Screen Saver That Works Good With my monitor set up as i Run a 3+1 Monitors a 5760X1080 in nvidia surround for all my flight & Race Sims & a 1440p@144Hz For Every Thing Else all are 27' Panels & Like i said its a pain to find a good one that works & looks as good as this one and it Even let me add in the text The Matrix Has You or Follow The White Rabbit &again it looks really cool ..but then again im a bit of a matrix fanboy..lol.! Looks great - reminds me of the first movie. Simple and no nonsense. Runs great on Windows 10, HP I5 laptop bought a week ago. Thank you for providing this awesome software for free. Neo would have wanted it that way.

This Matrix screensaver is only 90k and runs efficiently. It has a good selection of settings. I copied the matrix.scr file to my C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder and it runs fine in Windows 10 64-bit. Multiple monitors are supported. This is a good choice.

This is an awesome screensaver. It's free, has support for multiple monitors and has a wide range of settings to change, including text color and font. I recommend this screensaver for those looking for a good matrix screensaver that has multi monitor support. Thumbs up from me!

Matrix digital rain, or Matrix code, is the computer code featured in the Matrix series. The falling green code is a way of representing the activity of the simulated reality environment of the Matrix on screen by kinetic typography. All four Matrix movies, as well as the spin-off The Animatrix episodes, open with the code.
